Abstract

The Seismic Network of the Republic of Slovenia recorded 1777 local earthquakes in 2022. There were 31 earthquakes with a local magnitude equal to or higher than 2.0. The strongest earthquake with an epicentre in Slovenia in 2022, with a local magnitude of 2.8, occurred on 28 March at 9:00 UTC near Bavšica in the municipality of Bovec. Its maximum intensity was IV EMS-98. An earthquake with its epicentre in Croatia, close to the Slovenian border, had a local magnitude of 2.9. It occurred on 31 August at 10:41 UTC, and its maximum intensity in Slovenia was III EMS-98. In 2022 the inhabitants of Slovenia felt at least 174 local earthquakes and 7 regional earthquakes (one with its epicentre in Croatia, two in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and four in Italy). The maximum intensity in Slovenia in 2022 was IV-V EMS-98, reached by 4 earthquakes with their epicentres in Slovenia and one earthquake with its epicentre in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
