PRESENTATION OF RESEARCH PROJECTS IN THE FIELD OF FIREFIGHTING

Abstract

In the modern world, research and development are key factors for progress and the introduction of innovations through which new knowledge is acquired, new technologies are created and implemented, and products, services and processes are improved. Research and development also play an important role in the protection and rescue system, where acquiring new knowledge and keeping pace with new technologies are essential due to the increasingly demanding work conditions. The firefighting association, which plays a more visible role in the protection and rescue system, has modernized the field of education and training in the past decade through development and research projects, acquiring many professional materials that have raised and unified the level of training of volunteer firefighters throughout the country. This article presents two development and research projects completed in 2022 which have filled a crucial gap, especially in the field of basic training of volunteer firefighters. The first project “Preparation of materials for the basic training of volunteer firefighters” was carried out by the Slovenian Firefighters Association, and the second, “Calculations in the firefighting sector” by the University of Maribor, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Architecture.
