SEISMOGRAPHS IN SLOVENIAN PRIMARY SCHOOLS
Abstract
Nine Slovenian primary schools responded to the initiative of the Slovenian Environment Agency to install Raspberry Shake 4D seismographs in their school premises. By placing seismographs in schools, we aim to raise interest in seismology in primary school students and teachers, encourage them to view and analyse seismograms, and raise awareness of the dangers of earthquakes while improving the culture of earthquake-safe behaviour. In this article, we describe the components, and provide insight into the operation of the Raspberry Shake 4D seismograph. We outline the process of installation in primary schools and present educational materials related to the field of seismology and their contribution to pedagogical practice.
