THE RISK OF MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES IN ORGANIZERS OF DISASTER RELIEF
Abstract
During last year’s floods in Slovenia, as in any similar event, the experts involved in the organization of rescue and relief during natural and other disasters in the municipalities and in the Administration for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief were exposed to mental-health risks. Among these problems, secondary traumatization ranks first, followed by other anxiety disorders, depression and sleep disorders. This paper aims to draw attention to these risks, which also pose challenges for family and partner relationships.
