REPORT FROM THE WORLD CONSTRUCTION FORUM, LJUBLJANA, 2019

Abstract

Slovenia hosted the World Construction Forum in Ljubljana between 8 April and 11 April 2019. The main organizers of the Forum were the Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering of the University of Ljubljana, together with the Slovenian Chamber of Engineers, with the support of the World Federation of Engineering Organisations (WFEO). The organization of the forum was also supported by numerous international and Slovenian professional organizations. With over 600 participants from 50 countries, the Forum discussed the challenges posed by the required resilience of buildings and infrastructure. The work at the Forum was first plenary and then in six sessions, where one of the session focused on Disaster Risk Management and Governance for Resilient Communities. At the end the participants accepted the 2019 Ljubljana Declaration on Buildings and Infrastructure Resilience as a contribution to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Most of the plenary and session lectures were recorded and are being made available for educational purposes, which is a special contribution from this Forum to distance learning and open-access educational content.
