MONITORING OF TURBIDITY IN RIVERS FOR BETTER EVALUATION OF THE ECOLOGICAL STATUS OF SURFACE WATERS

Abstract

River sediment provides the living conditions for different habitats. Changes in the quantitative and qualitative state of sediment and turbidity can significantly change living conditions, thereby changing the biological communities in the aquatic environment. The level of turbidity is a good indicator of the ecological status of surface waters and the conditions for the preservation of the ecosystem. With a dramatic increase in turbidity due to a large increase in the suspended solids in the water, the reduction in light transmission at depth is significant. It also creates difficult conditions for aquatic organisms.
