COLLISION 2007 AND FIRE 2007 EXERCISES

Abstract

The main theme of the 2nd Protection and Rescue Days in Nova Gorica was the »Collision 2007« exercise which actually consisted of two parts. The first part was a traffic accident on the Nova Gorica—Ajdovščina high-speed road, near the Vogršček detention pond. Three passenger cars and bus full of Italian tourists were involved in the accident. The exercise was a test for Slovenia to check its system of protection and rescue for a massive motorway accident. The other exercise took place on the Trstelj hill where fire brigades and other members of the rescue forces tested their preparedness for a major wildfire. More than 800 participants took part in both exercises, among them members of the Civil Protection from the Italian province of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, with which Slovenia signed a protocol on cooperation in protection and rescue activities in natural and other disasters.
