HEAT LOAD IN THE SUMMERS OF 1999 AND 2000
Abstract
In areas with a temperate climate, heat waves appear almost every summer. Air temperatures and heat loads are greater in cities than in rural surroundings, which is why the impact of heat waves is more pronounced in cities. The impact of heat waves on the population depends on its intensity, duration, and on the time of its occurrence, e. g. early summer heat waves cause more inconvenience. In Slovenia, heat waves appear almost every year. An assessment of their frequency and intensity in the summers of 1999 and 2000 was made.
