PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE DURING ENVIRONMENTAL ACCIDENTS
Abstract
Due to the growing number of major chemical accidents, the international community has developed an integral system of protection against the harmful consequences of hazardous substances. In the process of its accession to the European Union, Slovenia is beginning to implement European legislation in this area as well. Response activities in the event of chemical accidents are already adequately addressed in current Slovene legislation, and the responsibilities and tasks in responding to chemical accidents are allocated. The contribution discusses in detail the legal regulation of the system of protection against chemical accidents on the international, national and local levels, as well as accident preparedness in Slovenia.
