“AIRCRAFT ACCIDENT 99” EXERCISE
Abstract
In October 1999, an unannounced joint civil protection exercise based on an aircraft accident was conducted in the Gorenjska region. This exercise was organized by the RS Administration for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief, the RS Civil Aviation Authority with the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Ministry of the Interior, the Police Directorate, the Ministry of Health, and other state bodies and rescue services. The purpose of the exercise was to test and improve the level of force preparedness for search and rescue activities in the event of a major aircraft accident in the alpine region of Slovenia. The exercise indicated a satisfactory level of preparedness, but exposed certain flaws that need to be eliminated.
