FIRE ’99 EXERCISE

Abstract

On 5 June 1999, an interstate exercise in protection and rescue activities in the case of fire in the natural environment took place in the area of Ilirska Bistrica. The exercise was organized by the Administration for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief at the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Slovenia, the Postojna Defense Administration, the municipality of Ilirska Bistrica, and the Firefighting Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Croatia. The purpose of the exercise was to check and improve the readiness of protection and rescue forces in the event of fire or any other type of accident in the international border zone, the joint performance of aircraft, the joint functioning of fire-fighting and other teams in extinction and rescue procedures in the natural environment and border-crossing procedures.
