THE HANDLING OF DEAD VICTIMS OF DISASTERS
Abstract
The article presents an overview of handling dead bodies during disasters. Affected communities generally devote great attention to this issue and organize themselves in order to provide effective solutions. During the entire process of handling the dead – from search through identification to burial – an attitude of respect is demonstrated. In principle, this is the social transition of corpses to persons with names. The article also presents the nature of stressors during the handling of dead bodies.
