Abstract

The safe operation of road tunnels has become a primary concern after two major accidents - fires in road tunnels occurred in 1999. In Slovenia the number of operating road tunnels will increase with the construction of new motorways. The safe operation of establishments such as road tunnels, which pose a risk to human health and safety, is primarily the responsibility of road tunnel owners. The international seminar presented in the article focused on one aspect of safe operation: fire safety in road tunnels.
