XXXVII GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE EUROPEAN SEISMOLOGICAL COMMITTEE
Abstract
The XXVIIth General Assembly of the European Seismological Committee (ESC) – an annual meeting of European seismologists – was held in Lisbon, Portugal from 10–15th September 2000. Numerous lectures, symposiums, workshops, poster presentations and meetings of working groups took place on the premises of Lisbon University. The meeting was attended by approximately four hundred experts from primarily European and Mediterranean countries. ESC currently has 38 full members. On this occasion, the Assembly decided on two applications for membership: Estonia became the 39th member of ESC, and Armenia was granted the status of observer until its admission into the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG).
