Abstract

The paper contrasts the concept of spatial form (J. Frank) with Bakhtin’s concept of dialogue, as theoretical notions to formulate a general logic of modem narrative and as a philosophical one as well, bearing specific historical implications. The confrontation of both terms considers also the arguments of J. Kristeva where both notions are convertible and Spanos’ redefinition of spatiality in the perspective of dialogism. The study reveals that the long lasting dispute around Frank’s notion obviously has his root in the difficulties of the European thought in our present moment of transition.
