La théorie de la représentation (mimèsis) artistique selon Aristote

L’article commence par donner une nouvelle analyse de la classification aristotélicienne de l’art d’après les « supports » ou les moyens de reproduction, d’après les objets et la manière de représenter. C’est précisément le concept de mimèsis qui établit l’autonomie de la création artistique d’abord expliqué par moyen des procédés de peinture qu’on utilise pour la reproduction (apeikázein). En tant que l’art soit un produit de l‘art mimétique, il s’appelle mímēma (la représentation, l’expression) tandis que l’objet représenté s’appelle l’image, ou la forme (eikón, morphé). L’objet de la présentation artistique concerne la « nature » de l’homme comme telle et obtient par là un caractère universel (tò kathólou). La création artistique doit représenter son « objet » dans sa singularité, sa beauté et sublimité (epieíkeia, parádeigma). Pour que l’œuvre artistique atteigne son telos, son spectateur ou bien son écouteur est obligé de s’identifier avec l’objet représenté : puisque l’art décrit le chemin du sujet à travers le procès de ses identifications, la représentation artistique est toujours la question de la connaissance de soi-même et, par consequent, la question de l’éthique.References
