In Catalonia at the dawn of the twentieth century, Jacint Verdaguer was the most relevant public case to exemplify the poet’s fight to defend his freedom. In contemporary Catalan literature, freedom of speech is sometimes understood by certain authors as a license to express ideas that otherwise would generally not be considered acceptable. Is this the freedom Europeans have fought for since the times of the Enlightenment? Is freedom the denial of any limits?References
