Cosmopolitan Sensus Communis: The Common of Sense – Sense of the Common

Kant’s idea of cosmopolitan right is closely related to aesthetic judgement that, in turn, is invoked for conceptualising a sensus communis. Kant turns “the common of sense” of his predecessors into a “sense of the common” without, however, cancelling out the former. A relationship is posited between the common of sense and a sense of the common in a focus imaginarius, giving rise to a non-idiopathic sensus communis.References
