Literature and Film in the Context of Media Turn

In this article we claim that proper understanding of the relation between literature and film in the context of media turn is not possible without an analysis of the materiality of technological media and its consequences on the level of epistemology, aesthetics, but also of power relations (politics and economy). The traditional view concerning literature and film preferred consciousness to materiality and specificity of a medium, and therefore interpreted the difference among them as superficial. In the context of media turn, developed through Marshall McLuhan, Friedrich Kittler, and others, we face a setting in which a specific form of consciousness is grasped as a consequence of a technological medium that has been used in the process of creation.References
